Gas ducted heating is the unit in the roof space or under the floor that heats the whole house through a network of ducts and vents. It is the most common heating system around Wangaratta and one of the more expensive systems to replace, which is why it is worth keeping in good order.

This is the part that matters most and gets talked about least. A gas heater burns fuel inside your house, and the flue carries the products of combustion outside. If a heat exchanger cracks or a flue becomes blocked, carbon monoxide can spill back into the room you are sitting in.

The most common fault by a distance. Airflow drops, the unit overheats and shuts down.

The serious one, and the reason the heat exchanger is inspected on every service we do.

Failed ignition

Igniters and flame sensors wear out. Usually a small part and around half an hour of work.

Gas pressure drift

The unit burns more gas than it should and still never quite gets the house properly warm.

Fan and belt wear

It squeals on start-up for a season, then one day lets go, and you get no airflow at all.

Ducting come adrift

Half the heat goes into the roof space instead of the rooms. Common in older installations.

Not every unit is worth saving. If the heat exchanger has cracked, parts are no longer made, or it is more than twenty years old and failing every winter, the honest answer is a new one rather than another repair bill. We also install ducted systems in houses that have never had one.
